Guess who won the MudMagic Code Challenge for a Mud String Library! Ok, well, I had zero competition, but still, I won it (47/60, I only had 15 functions). There are some very useful functions in the library as well.
So, what did I win? I got a $50 Amazon Gift Certificate and a free registered copy of MUSHClient (something I should have bought long ago).

So, I’ve finally done some programming since my small sanity program back in May.
The General C String library is intended for other C programmers. It contains a large array of functions for string manipulation. Until MudMagic approves me entry I will avoid writing about the exact contents function wise.
[edit]
Entry was approved. Here is the list of library functions
– Format time based on seconds
– Convert an int to a string, or output the english version
– Convert the case of a string
– Find a substring within a string between two specified characters.
– Replace all instances of a substring with another substring within a string.
– Determine if a string is a prefix to another string
– Compare two strings
– Find the number of occurances of a substring within a string
– Insert a substring at a specified interval in a string (wordwrap)
– Compare a list of tokens to another list of tokens
– Pull of the first token of a string (using specified delimiters)
– Return the total number of tokens in a string
– Create a sentence from a list of tokens
[/edit]
The project page has been updated for the first time in who knows how long. Woot!
The code is 911 lines on its own. With examples, the test function for SWFotE 2.1a, and the install file, I’m guessing a grand total of 1800-ish lines.
You can see the exported code and examples at http://www.nick-cash.com/download/str_lib
You can download the source (header and source file) and the install file at http://www.nick-cash.com/download/str_lib/odis_str_lib.zip.

I had a job interview at 2pm. I went in feeling pretty confident, and low and behold I got the job on the spot (granted that was after an interview). I now officially (though my first day is the 26th) work for the ITS department at UNI (paperwork still pending). A decent wage too for a fun and flexible job (with room for raises).
After that (lasted till 3:30 or so) I got to take dogs to the vet! Oh boy, so much fun. Sarcasm doesnt go through blog entries well if you don’t use tags. Today reminded me how much I really am allergic to the four legged crazys, so if Loki (my black lab) does live with me next year I’m definitely going to get some medicine for it.
Later I went and had dinner with Logan at Famous Daves. Yum. That was fantastic. The woman also started by asking us if we wanted any Michelob or daiquirii’s (I think it was daiquiri’s…), which was somewhat interesting. We then headed over to Blockbuster to find a movie and determined we would watch Beverly Hills Ninja (one of the first movies we ever watched togeather). Soon after we went to Hy-Vee to buy candy so Lauren could check us out (“you forgot the condoms?!” haha
)
So all in all it was an interesting day. I have lots of packing and moving to do tomorrow and this weekend (and all of next week for that matter). Hopefully I’ll figure out my living situation and find some time to finish up my math/great books stuff so I didn’t completely screw myself over last semester (::shudder:: I can’t live with a 3.6 gpa… must… makeup… work… for better grades…). Speaking of homework, I suppose I should finish my homework for Computer Org. or at least tell Fienup to report my A-. ::sigh:: If only I had a bit more time to program in assembly (aka bash my face into hard objects).

Diane finally e-mailed me back today. I have an informal interview at UNI tomorrow. Supposing I don’t show up drugged or drunk I’m pretty sure I get the job (since she was talking about “doing all of the paper work and showing you the ropes before August”). Kind of exciting.
Oh, and my college friend Chris got engaged. Thats pretty cool as well.
Apartment scouting was interesting. Definitely some cool but pricy options out there. Then I got to play pool with Lisa, so today was pretty good.

I googled Intelligence is a sword and my site was the first to come up. Yay. And it only had about 8,090,000 pages of competition.

I’ve been thinking about writing a post such as this since Elyse wrote hers. About a week ago I had been writing the post when my mouse decided to be a bitch and spontaneously change pages (I need a new one, ack)! Several hours of writing (probably quite a few pages…) down the drain. Oh well.
After this you should know quite a bit about me, and you’ll know even more if you are adventurous enough to read my post on my personality type (ENFJ).
ANNOYINGLY LARGE CAPITALIZED WARNING: BEWARE OF SUPER LONG POST

At Nick May’s suggestion I took a type test which lead to this personality analysis.
After reading the analysis, I’m amazed that this test was that accurate. There is nothing I would debate about it. For those who don’t want to read through it all, let me give you a run down here.
ENFJ = Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging

Off in the darkness I walked alone.
I listened intently to The Sound of Silence,
Hoping for a call on the cell
To end the lonely walk,
And save me from my myself.
My mind wandered to memories
Of recent walks and discussions.
Some humorous… (an illusion lumberjack mech suit tree pop machine is me!)
Some serious… (what will happen now?)
Some interesting and fun… (“I really like that house!”)
I toiled in my mind for three miles,
Walking through the mist of sprinklers.
Finally my mind was clear like the night sky.
Feelings have, at last, been shoved aside,
Taking a back seat to life.
It was beautiful night.
